Delete current return set up, cap off return chase from the attic. Install 2 new ceiling returns with filters. One in main living area and one in either the office or master bedroom. Wherever existing structure allows. 18” and one 12” accordingly. Pull down supply ceiling grills and calk around the boots to sheetrock and reinstall to contain dust from the attic. Seal supply ducts at ceiling boots with mastic and insulate accordingly.

Customer is wanting to move forward with system replacement, gold insulation package which is completely removing old insulation spray, sanitizing air ceiling all air gaps, and blowing back in with R 38 Insulation. Adding mini split to living room replacing all ductwork. As well as replacing water heater with flood stop.
During inspection I found contactor for heat strips buzzing extremely loud as heard in video, indicating high potential of failure. Blower wheel is completely covered in dust, dirt and debris to the point where cleaning is not possible and can only be replaced. System is operating within manufacture specifications and cooling with a 19 degree differential which is within the 18-20 degree range. Attic is poorly insulated and should be addressed most is 6” or less . Today’s code is 14” of insulation. Outdoor came on and found metal grill holding condenser fan motor has had a lot of wear and tear and is so weak it can not keep motor straight during normal operation causing outdoor condenser to shake violently indicating high possibility of breaking and causing damage needs to be replaced. And contactor in outdoor condenser is extremely pitted . Compressor and fan motor are operating within manufacture specifications during today’s inspection
